Easy repair.
Thought I’d try to instal the part before incurring the cost of a pricey electrician. The online instructions were easy to follow. It took less than 30minutes. Very straightforward.

Broil (top) element replacement for oven
After turning the breaker off, using a 1/4 inch nut driver I removed all the clamp screws (5) holding the heating element in place. I then unplugged the element wire spades from the rear of oven and removed the old element. Installing the new one was simply going in reverse order. After plugging the new one in, I did however, use plyers to squeeze the connectors and make the connections tighter. It took a little more back work than I thought because I was leaning over most the time. All in all, I saved a hundred dollar bill in doing this 30 min job myself.

Broken Bake Element
I unfastened the three 1/4" rear screws, then the two support screws on top. I pulled the old element out,( plenty of slack wire luckily). disconnected it from the bayonet-type connections, then attached the new element. I secured the new element using the 1/4" screws. Bingo!

Broiler Element Failed
Disconnect the power to the oven at the main breaker panel. Open the oven door to the first stop (not all the way open) and pull straight up to remove the oven door from the hinge. Using a 1/4" drive ratchet with 1/2" extension with 1/4" socket, remove the 1/4" sheetmetal screw holding the temperature probe at the center of the broiler mounting plate. Remove the two 1/4" screws holding the broiler mounting plate. Remove the two 1/4" screws holding the broiler element at the ceiling of the oven. Pull the broiler element out from the back of the oven and there should be two electrical connectors at the back of the broiler element. Pull the electrical connectors off of element. Replace the element and re-install in reverse order.

Burnt Broiler Element
Just like everyone else it was a simple r&r. However, when removing or installing wire clips I make it a habit to hold the ends with needle nose to prevent any: "snap!" ooops! However to prevent burning the element in the first place, it is strongly suggested to push that broil button twice so that it is set to low temp. It is too easy to use the high setting which will shorten the elements life by 40 - 60 %. Also, keep the oven door partially open when using the broiler. Like the manual tells you!!!

Remove and replace Broil (upper) heating element.
Turn off the power to the oven. (There should be a circuit breaker in the main power panel dedicated to just the oven) (the oven should be cool to the touch). Open and remove the door by pulling it up and off the hinges (this is best accomplished with a helper). Remove the racks (wire shelves). Remove the two 1/4" mounting screws that secure the heating element to the back and the two screws that secure the element to the top of the oven.. Gently pull the wires out and disconnect them from the heating element. Now reverse the process. Connect the wires to the new heating element in the same fashion as they came off. Push the wires and heating element back in place and secure with the four screws. Replace the wire racks (shelves). Replace the door (again, this is best accomplished with a helper). Turn the power back on. Run a test of the broiler to make sure the repair was completed properly. voila!

You recommend using model # jsp47bf1bbb parts. The diagram shows this with two spreaders(?) but the blow up of the part only shows the rear one. Does this mean you should reuse the front spreader on the new part. The one i wish to replace has two spreaders with the front spreader used to fix the unit to the top of the oven.
