Change out defective switch
Pulled out compactor drawer and removed same, slid the compactor cabinet out and unpluged the appliance. Removed the two phillips head screws to release the control panel. lossened the locking nut from switch. matched the switches to be sure parts were the same,switched the wires to the new switch and reinstalled.replaced phillips screws, all Done !!!

Trash compactor would not start
Remove two screws from panel above trash bin. Remove panel and remove wires from rotary switch. Remove lock ring from switch. Install in reverse order.

Rotary switch had finally worn out and was brittle and broken on our 30 plus year old trash compactor.
Removed the switch knob, the outer nut, and the front plate.
Unplugged the old switch from the 3 wires and plugged them into the new switch and put it back together with the new knob. Probably less than 5 minutes.

Removed the three leads from part #675382 ,had a senior moment and can't remember where they go .
Hi Richard, Thank you for the question. Holding the switch with the one terminal at the top, the purple wire goes to the top terminal, The brownish orange wire goes on the left and the yellow on the right terminal. Hope this helps!

Ordered new control knob and rotary nut previously. Turns out rotary start switch connector was also broken. Need new rotary start switch only, not illustrated kit. Help!

My old switch does not engage, knob spins freely is the switch broken or is the knob worn out?
