Hello, i need to replace a couple of ignition valve switches on the GE cooktop. Your parts list shows two different part numbers for this switch. Pn: Ps236635 for $28.48 and pn: Ps236639 for $18.23. What is difference and which is applicable as all the ignition switches on the stove appear to be the same? Second, could you explain how i separate the glass white top from the burner bottom box in order to gain access? It seems they are stuck together but not sure if this is from 20 years of use. Thank you.

Hi Greg,
Thank you for your question. Part number PS236635 are for the front burners and PS236639 are for the rear burners. In regards to the cooktop, before you begin any repair please turn the power supply off at the junction box and unthread the screws securing the junction box cover and remove the junction box cover. Untwist the wire nuts to disconnect the power grounding wires. Loosen the conduit connector screw or screws, then remove the conduit cable from the junction box. Next use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the clamping screws from the clamping brackets. Use a quarter inch socket or nut driver to loosen the adjustment screws securing the clamping brackets. Rotate the brackets inwards and tighten the screws. You can lift the cooktop out of the cut-out in the counter and place it on a sturdy surface. Using a Phillips head screw driver or a quarter inch nut driver, remove the screws securing the glass panel to the cooktop. Then carefully lift the old top off. Before installing the new glasstop, make sure the elements are in the proper positions. Align the glasstop on the base and then secure it with the screws. With the glass now installed, you will need to lay it upside down on a padded surface because you will need to new protective foam strips on the underside of the top on all sides. Once completed, realign the cooktop in the counter and reposition it. Follow the remaining steps in reverse. Restore power to the cooktop and everything should now work for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
