My oven range Maytag mer5765raw self cleaning function is not working. After selecting the self clean option on the keypad, you hear a clicking noise like it is locking but the door doesn’t actually lock. You can open the door and the self clean stays on. It seems like it starts to warm up but i have been paranoid about what we may be breathing in if it’s not working properly so i’m not sure if the self clean actually works. Is there a part/way i can test to see if it can just be fixed?
For model number Maytag MER5765RAW
Hello Hannah, thank you for your question. If the door isn't locking when self clean is selected you might want to check the latch itself. The latch assembly part number is WP74008702. The door switch part number 74008703 is the switch that turns on and off the inside light when the door is opened and closed. The self clean function should not work if the door is not locked. I hope this helps!

It appears the oven limit switch is PartSelect Number PS2086171 (Manufacturer Part Number 74008703) and called "Switch-DO. Is this the thermal limit switch? Is the switch resetable? ie once it cools down reestablished continuity through the switch or is it more like a fuse where once it opens, it will always be open. Chasing down an issue where neither broil nor bake elements warm. Both elements meter fine as well as the oven temperature probe.

Hello Chris, thank you for getting in touch. The part you mentioned is the door switch. It shuts the oven light off when you close the oven door. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest replacing the high limit thermostat, part number PS2086183, to solve the problem. It shuts the oven elements off if it senses the oven temperature is too high. Glad to be of help!
