Replacement Part is Better Than New
Kitchen aid Pro 600 Mixer - gear box repair and part replacement is pretty straight forward. There are a couple of You Tube videos that walk you through it. The original gear case housing was made of a hard plastic that had cracked, allowing the gears to grind themselves until they wouldn't work anymore and the grease in the housing was burnt as well. The replacement is cast metal with cooling fins that help dissipate heat from the gear box. The new part and gasket fit perfectly and after replacing worn parts, cleaning out the old grease and replacing it, everything went back together as designed. Order receipt and delivery were prompt and the mixer is back in the kitchen.

Easy repair with part arriving rapidly regardless of the Covid19 lockdown !
Replacement part was made of metal which was a positive as the old plastic part had cracked allowing the main spindle to move laterally causing the gears to grind badly.

Easy, but messy job
My parts came super fast, less than 24 hours, almost to fast as i didn't have time to get my snap ring pliers so i made do. Fit exactly as supposed too. Hopefully will be way stronger than the original. Strongly recommend rubber gloves, a small pair of snap ring pliers and paper towels on hand

Did not quite fit!
Installed it, but there was a mm gap between the housing and the gasket. I tired re-adjusting the gears in case of a meshing problem; no luck.

Better quality
Repair was easy, watched a YouTube video too. Old part was plastic, one of the connecting legs was broken, leaking gear oil. Cleaned it all. Once it was back together with new gear oil it runs like a brand new machine! Bought the gear oil food grade to refill the old gunk from a department store for 15$.

Kitchenaid stand mixer would get stuck (stripped gear)
First I removed the screws that hold the silver band and the top of the mixer (cover). I removed the cover. I then removed the 4 screws that hold the gear housing and removed the housing. I removed the worm gear and removed the bearings and the washer from the "old" worm gear and put them on the replacement worm gear. I took gear grease from the cracked housing and packed the replacement gear with this grease. I attached the gasket to the replacement housing. I placed the attachment gear into the replacement housing and placed the housing over the gear assembly. I then put the mixer back together and ran it for a few minutes to dispurse the gear grease. I just mixed up some bread dough and everything seems to be in working order. I have never done this before so I hope it will continue to function properly.

mixer does not mix 4 cups of flour with 6 eggs very easily
sat on the kitchen table and with a screwdriver started to disasemble the mixer, hardest part was taking snap ring off (easy after you buy snap ring pliers)as gears were lifted off noticeable wearing was present on all parts. the bearing housing on the gearcase was broken lose, the only major expense. the other parts are not expensive so i decided to renew all parts. glad i did felt proud of myself when job was done. would do it again Joe

Plastic gear housing breaking
Very happy to find that the new gear housing was metal, not plastic. The whole problem was poor design of plastic to hold metal gears. Removed housing held down by four screws, removed two gears that were damaged. Retaining ring was difficult to remove from retaining slot. New gears replaced the old ones, new retaining ring put in place, new grease packed into all gearing, new stronger metal housing put in place and the Kitchenaid industrial mixer is better than new. Very happy with the parts I purchased.

bevel gear, bearings and housing replacement
The parts I received from PartSelect were higher quality than the original parts. The bevel gear and housing were originally plastic. The new ones are solid metal. The machine sounds and runs better than it ever did. The drawings from the website made this really easy. This will be my first choise for parts from now on.

Cracked gear housing, Broken Bearing and a couple things I didn't expect.
I am VERY impressed With this site . I am very disappointed with Kitchenaid. I paid more for this mixer than I paid for my first car especially when you ad in the attachments. I was mixing dough when I saw what looked like Small metal shavings in the dough... Then I heard a clacking sound so I turned off the machine and cussed...I got the screw driver and took off the top and was really surprised that on a machine that retails for over $550.00 dollars that the gear housing is PLASTIC...And this one had a crack down the side... So I took my trusty Phillips #2 and removed the housing to see that the front Bearing was broken as well so I got on line to kitchenaid and they are determined to continue the process of Shafting you and I with the prices of thier made to fail (Quickly) parts and lubricants.. Thank God for PartSelect. I got a better housing for half the money as well as a Bearing. Now I wish this were the end but remember I said that there was metal shavings in my dough? Well since I was going to have to replace the lube anyway I took apart the planetary gear as well and found that it had been shaving metal from the underside of the upper main housing .. After cleaning I checked and the lower bushing wasn't seated so it had been doing this since I bought it and I didn't know.. So I got a C Clamp and pressed it to where the thing should have been to begin with. If you are going to be working on the thing I suggest you tear it down completely and clean It thoroughly and inspect EVERYTHING closely... I have been eating metal shavings for who knows how long...

Gears were stripped and mixer would not mix
This was easy once Igot all the parts. The mxer wouldn't mix and when I opened it up the drive gear between the motor and the planetary drive was missing some teeth. Turns out the bearing, which was sintered bronze, had broken so I needed a new gear, new bearing, and the jumping gear had broken the housing so I needed a new housing. The new gearing ( really a bushing since there are no rollers or balls in the "bearing") waws now steel and the molded plastic housing is now cast metal. Some new grease ( I had to buy a quart can of grease to get two tablespooons) a new gasket and put the screws in and we're back in business. Total repair time 10 minutes, total time to get all the parts 3 weeks,

Mixer blade stopped moving. Motor was working.
Removed the top housing.
Visual inspection revealed a cracked gear housing.
Removed the 4 screws to remove the housing.
Removed the gear retaining clip and inspected the gears and pin.
The housing was the only problem.
Noticed the plastic housing locating pins were missing and were stuck in the bottom aluminum housing pin receptacles. Carefully drilled out and cleaned debris.
Installed the new gear housing with gasket.
Tested the machine then replaced the top housing.

This part on my mixer is black, lacks the finning on the side, and appears to be plastic. Will this silver one replace it correctly? Thank you!
