temp control working erratically required bumping door to reset
used putty knife to pry the control out far enough to slip a screwdriver under it and gently pry it out. found this site on my computer and located new replacement easily. shipping took several days longer than originally told but it came in yesterday {6/22/17} took all of five minutes to replace it, working fine so far since I was able to handle this myself without calling a service tech I`m happy to pay the cost of the part. so far this seems to have solved my problem. I`m a very satisfied customer.

After hurricane Harvey
hit we were without power for six days. Once power was restored both freezers came back up we just cleaned them out, two days later while the electric company was still restoring power to our neighbors the lights flickered. After that we lost the boards on both freezers one wa . After ordering the boards from this site to take me less to 5 min pull the old boards and put in the replacements

The light was cycling on and off when I opened the door, general flaky operation
As noted, the control board comes without a new housing, bare control board only. I was unable to find a replacement housing. It is impossible to remove the housing from the freezer without breaking the outer retaining tabs.

Unplug the freezer and apply tape on the door around the housing to prevent scratching the paint. Pry the housing out of the door from the front with a stout putty knife or two, which requires a good deal of force. Once the housing is removed from the door, the circuit board comes out of the housing fairly easily following the instructions included with the new control board, and the new board snaps right in to the old housing.

The housing re-installed OK and stays in place acceptably well even with broken retaining tabs.

Where is the electronic control board (part 297235200) located in freezer? How is it accessed?
For model number LFFH21F7HWA
PartSelect logo
Hello Raymond, thank you for your question. The electronic control is located on the outside of the door itself. You can find this part by removing the outer control panel. Use a putty knife around the edge of the control panel to release the tabs to remove the control. I hope this helps.

I just bought this unit second-hand. After letting it sit 24 hours after moving (only moved it upright, tilted to carry), the unit constantly runs. I set the control board to -13c, and put a thermometer inside and it was -25 inside (top or bottom, didn't matter). Evaporator fan works great, i replaced the thermistor and still same issue. Would this be the control board or the defrost heater? I had trouble separating the defrost heater to see if there were any ohms to it or not.

Hello Thad and thanks for writing. This could be a problem with a few things, here are a few hints so you can give it a check over. The temperature control thermostat directs voltage to the compressor, evaporator fan motor, and condenser fan motor. ... If the contacts inside the thermostat do not open, even at the lowest settings, this indicates that the thermostat is defective. The sealed system is made up of the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and the tubes around them. Damage or malfunction to any of these parts could be the cause of the freezer running too long. Here is a thought on the defrost heater, If your freezer is a frost-free model that continues to run but doesn’t get cold enough, then the defrost heater may be defective. These models use a defrost heater to melt the frost that accumulates on the evaporator coil. A defrost timer cycles the heater on at regular intervals to maintain a frost-free evaporator. If the heater fails, the frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporator until it becomes blocked and no air can circulate through it. This will cause the compressor to run almost continuously to try and satisfy the thermostat control. You can test the defrost heater for continuity with a multi-meter, and it typically should show less than 30 ohms. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime. Good Luck with your repair. By the way good job with letting your unit settle for 24 hours most people do not know this.

The control is on the outside how do I remove it
For model number lffh21f7hwb

Hi Vincent, you would have to pry it off using what tools you have available. Something flat and thin works best like a paint scraper. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

As a follow-up to my last question, there does not appear to be a temperature control thermostat in this model. I have an upright model with a digital control board. The only part i have found related to a temperature control is a thermistor, which has been replaced. If this model (lffh17f7hwh) has a temperature control thermostat, where would that be?
For model number LFFH17F7HWH
PartSelect logo
Hello Thad and thanks for writing. You are right most upright freezers have a thermostat but this particular model has not, which leaves the option of replacing the control board. We hope this helps if you need any help with installation please feel free to contact us anytime.

My upright freezer has started beeping with the door ajar light on. I have unplugged the unit and waited 30 minutes and plugged back in, I have held the reset button down for 5 seconds, I have replaced the door light switch, I have checked the door gasket which is in great shape...is this a control board issue or is there something else I can do?
For model number GLFH21F8HWC
PartSelect logo
Hi Joy, thank you for asking. According to our research, the door ajar provides a warning if the door is open for more than five minutes. We would recommend pressing the alarm reset button to turn the alarm off. If this does not solve the problem, you may need to check the temperature sensor, part number PS977306, to fix the issue. It senses the temperature inside the freezer and sends information to the electronic control board. We hope this solves your problem!

My freezer door ajar alarm will sporadically go off and on. Sometimes for a whole day alarming. The door gasket is good, and door is shutting properly. I have noticed it will try to start defrosting then start back up freezing. My light will work sporadically as well. Last night I noticed when I turned the temperature down from 0 to -10 degrees the alarm reset. I have been reading other Q&A and it seems this could be the mother board. Does this sound like it could be the problem.
For model number FKFH21F7HWE
PartSelect logo
Hi Leon, thank you for reaching out. You may need to press the alarm reset to turn the alarm off. If the issue still persists, we would recommend checking the door switch, part number PS427069. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope that will resolve your problem!

Hi, one last question to follow-up to my other ones. Is there anything else, other than the control board, that would cause the unit to keep running in the following scenario: The internal temperature is about -20c, the control board is set to -15c, when i change the temp to -12c nothing happens, when i unplug and replug the unit in at -12c the unit does not turn but when i change it -19c the fan and compressor turn on but when i turn back to -12c it keeps running....
For model number LFFH17F7HWH
PartSelect logo
Hi Thad, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
