Motor speed was erratic and no high speed
Removed the rear cover to inspect the speed board. Replaced motor brushes and noticed the motor body nuts were loose and 1 was completely off. Cleaned up speed board and replaced the motor body nuts, tightened with nutdriver, adjusted speedboard governor screws and with new motor brushes worked like a charm. The very rough sounding motor noise was gone and the mixer has not operated so quietly ever.

I did not do the repair myself, however, I contacted a suggested service company which in turn was a company I had used before when I had problems with my JenAir microwave. Your answer to my question was not what I asked. I only need the plastic knob on the exterior of my mixer. This knob was glued on not screwed nor does it have any mechanical parts. It's just a plastic knob that controls the speed of the batters!
For model number KP26M1XLC
Hi Mary Jo, Thank you for the question. The Speed control knob is only sold as part of the speed control. The speed control with the black knob is PartSelect Number: PS11746947 (grey knob is PS11746948). Hope this helps!
