The controls on my washer have been irregular for a couple of years (e.G. The knob that selects the cycle has to be rotated many times to move the selection). Now the start button has to be pushed multiple times to initiate and the plastic over it has separated. Is there a control board replacement that can be done and how easy is that task?
For model number 11047542602
Good Day Don. Thank you for your question in regards to your unit (Model Number 11047542602). Based on our research, you may need to replace the Interface Control Board (PartSelect Number PS11746714). The following are the steps to replace this part on your unit: 1) Ensure that your appliance is unplugged or the circuit breakers are off so there's no chance of electrocution. 2) Make sure you turn off your hot and cold water supply. 3) Remove the detergent drawer out [pull out the detergent drawer and depress the release lever and then you can pull it all the way out. 4) To remove the top panel, remove the three screws across the back (top) of the unit and then lift the panel off. 5) Once you have the screws out, pull the panel back a little bit and then lift up on it and take it off the machine. 6) One the panel has been removed, there is a screw in a hole next to where the detergent drawer goes in (on the front of the unit) that will need to be removed. 7) Open the door, up inside behind the Kenmore logo there's a little opening that you should be able to push your screwdriver into to release the locking tab. 8) Once this tab is released, reach up into the inside corner and there's a locking tab that has to be released inside. You will then be able to lift the console up and off of the locking tabs on the top. 9) Disconnect the ribbon cable that goes from the user interface to the main control board (located over on the side and it has a little tab). You have to push up on the tab, and then you can pull the ribbon out. 10) Once you have the ribbon disconnected, take it out of the holding clips and make sure it's released so you are able to pull it out when we take the front control off. 11) Now that everything is released, can pull the ribbon cable for the user interface out from inside the washer. At this point you should be ready to to change out the user interface. 12) To get the user interface out of the control panel, pull the knob 13) Flip the control panel over release the locking tabs that are holding the interface into the panel [this can be done with a small screwdriver]. As you release them you will need to pull up a little bit on the user interface so they don't snap back in. 14) Once all the tabs have been released, lift the user-interface out. Remove the buttons from your old interface and install them on your new interface (to do this, just turn the buttons to release them off your old interface to release them, and then put them on your new interface, Please note, that some of the buttons are more complex and you should use a small screwdriver to release the locking legs that are holding them on your old interface). 15) Put the new user interface into the panel and follow the steps above in reverse to reassemble your unit. We hope this helps. Best Regards.

The buttons on the control panel do not light up at all.
For model number 11047512600
Hi Frank,
Thank you for your question. If the buttons on the control board are not lighting check the connections between the electronic control board and the control panel. If the connections are fine, check the electronic control board. Visually inspect the control board for any signs of wear, damage, cracking, or burning. If you find any of the above, you will need a replacement main control board. Use caution when replacing a control board as sometimes the burned components are caused by external component failures. These will need to be identified and corrected before installing a new control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
