How do I know if the evaporator fan motor is bad? My refrigerator is warm but the freezer is cold but not as cold as it should be the compressor is running and I already changed the thermistor. The fan still doesnt work but seems to spin fine by hand. How do I test it?
For model number MFI2067AEQ
Hi Barry, thank you for reaching out. The best way to test an evaporator fan is with a multimeter. Set the resistance on the multimeter to 20,000 kilo ohms. To test your fan, you will need to place the multimeter probes into the plug attached to the wires that you have unclipped from the electrical connections while removing it from the refrigerator. The plug terminal has three wires. A black, a red and a white one. You will need to attach the probes to the black and the white terminals. It does not matter which probe goes into which terminal. Now you are looking for a reading of more than six Kilo Ohms. Now, if it is less than six Kilo Ohms, the fan will need to be replaced. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
