Sparker would not quit sparking after lighting the gas.
Turned off the gas then disconnected the gas line. Unplugged the AC cord and removed the unit from the counter top. Had to locate a suitable area to lay the cooktop, rather large. The bottom cover is held on by 6-8 sheet metal screws, however, the gas regulator and nipple must be removed also for the cover to come off. I removed the Igniter module screws, leaving the wires connected and mounted the new module in it's place. I then removed one wire at a time from the old and put it on the new part. Replaced the back cover and reinstalled the gas regulator with fresh pipe sealant. Probably took an hour including cleaning the top and counter top.

spark module failure, wouldn't spark.
The repair was fairly straightforward, much easier the second time around. The first part was defective. (irregular spark). I reordered and installed the new one. It works, but nowhere near as good as the original. The problem is that the frequency of the spark on these replacement modules is only once per second. To get technical, the gas as presented to the spark is turbulent, causing several sparks to occur before the ideal mixture coincides with the spark. Needless to say, there is an excess of gas wafting around the kitchen until it lights, sometimes in excess of 20 seconds. NOT SAFE! Our BBQ and fireplace insert spark orders of magnitude faster than this.

What is the best way to located and replace the spark module? Is it located and replaceable from the back? Where is it actually located. Sorry for the repeated question!
For model number KGRT507BBL3
Hi Robert, Thank you for the question. The Spark Module is located at the back on the lower right side. You should be able to see it once the back panel is removed. Hope this helps!

How do i troubleshoot this model. There are no troubleshooting manuals on the internet that i can find. My problem is that this unit sparks all the time, even when the burner is lit. How do i conclude that the spark module is my problem and not another component.
For model number KGCT305TBL0
Hello Richard, One of the spark ignition switches may be faulty. The spark ignition switch sends voltage to the spark module. When the electrical contacts inside the switch close, power flows to the spark module. If the spark ignition switch fails with the electrical contacts closed, the switch will send continuous voltage to the spark module. To determine if any of the spark ignition switches is defective, use a multimeter to test each of the switches for continuity. If a spark ignition switches shows continuity at all settings, replace it. I hope this helps.
