Worm Gear and Bracket
This is the third time I repaired the same part. All parts were from Parts select. It was the exact part and I had no trouble replacing the part following their repair video. I do appreciate Parts Select replacing the part free of charge because it was under warranty. The part preformed as it should. The plastic gear stripped before any damage was done to any metal parts. I have used Parts select many times in the past and have enjoyed excellent service. Thanking you in advance. Joe

Part Arrived Quickly and Solved Problem
Received the part and used a YouTube video to learn how to fix my mixer. Was fixed within about 30 mins. Much better than buying a new unit. Thanks!

very satisfied
first I bought 2 gears from amazon and didnt work as a expected, the center of the gear moved, so when the machine turned with load, it stops right away because the center of the gears moves, so there is not transfer of movement. this one doesnt, so the gear works very well, so rotational movement is transfer to the last part of the mixer, anyway, everything works as new again !!,

Mixer was making clunking sounds and shaking
I removed screws in a sequence that I felt wouldn't further damage the mixer until I had it completely unassembled. When I found the broken worm gear, I went online to find a part. I found an exploded view, but the part numbering was old, and the salesperson couldn't tell me what the worm gear and bracket assembly consisted of, as I only wanted the worm gear. After trying to drive the pin out of the assembly, and failing, I decided to back online and see if anyone else had a photo of the assembly. Luckily (and wisely) PartSelect, com did and that answered any questions I had. The price was better, too. Reassembly of the mixer was a cinch with the exploded view. It's working like new, and we're hoping for another 35 years of service from it! Thanks.

The mixer got a wad of dough between the pan & beater and stopped.
Once I looked at the schematic I was prtty sure what the problem was and what I needed to repair the problem. It was reltively easy to disassemble the mixer and immediately saw that I was correct in what was needed. I ordered the parts. They came through with no delay. It took almost as long to find all of the parts as it was to do the repair. In all it took about a half hour to repair, put it together and clean everything up. It works just like new.

The Kitchenaid heavy duty mixer's motor would run but the mixer head would not turn.
Obviously the problem was in the gear box of the mixer. I disassembled the gear box by removing the four large screws holding the base then the four screws at the rear and center of the mixer. Then I removed the thin metal ring covering the five screws around the front of the housing by gently prying up with a small screwdriver. The five screws beneth the ring have to be removed with a small blade screwdriver turning them a round at a time in sequence until they are free. Gently pry the two housings apart with a screwdriver and lift our the lower half with the plantary gears. I found the drive gear was stripped. I went to PartSelect on the web, eaisly found the exploded view of the mixer's gear box and ordered the gear I needed. The gear is part of an assembly attached to the mixer housing with three screws. Work around the lubricant in the housing. Within four days I received the new gear, installed it by reversing the above procedures and the mixer is working again. The total cost was $34.85. Not a bad investment considering the mixer cost over $400 and would have been trashed for want of one part.

The smallest gear was broken, so we got the worm gear and bracket as well as a new gasket and some lube to grease the gears
We disassembled it with the help of a YouTube video from partselect.
We saw the damaged gear, removed the 4 screws to remove it, cleaned all the old grease out with rags so it wouldn't be contaminated by metal shavings.
We reassembled it per the YouTube video and it works better than ever!!
Make sure you remove the roll pin before trying to pry off the planetary plate, because I watched a different video first, which didnt tell me that and i bent it a bit.

What type of grease for gear box where worm gear is located?
For model number KSM150PSCL
Hello Georgia, Thank you for your inquiry. Part# WP4176597 is the grease, approximately one pound. It is the planetary gear grease recommended by the manufacturer for all KitchenAid mixers, it is approved for incidental food contact. Hope this helps!

Hi, our KitchenAid mixer is about 25 years old. It's a 115 volt machine, but we've used it overseas for 17 years, with transformers. So, it's probably received uneven current at times. The motor works but does not operate at slower speeds. When we move the speed control from the "off" position to "stir" or one of the lower speeds, it automatically moves to a fast speed, maybe 6 or 7 out of ten. At the higher end, between 6 and 10, the speed control can be used to regulate speed. Could you recommend what parts I should replace to fix this? Thank you, Steve

Hi Steve, Thank you for the question. I suggest replacing the Speed Control Plate,PartSelect Number: PS11748567/ Hope this helps!

Our mixer makes an extremely loud squeaking noise when it's mixing anything. It makes the usual "gear" noises when it's running without any resistance against the blade, but as soon as the blade meets any resistance it begins making the squeaking noise. I took it apart tonight and inspected all the gears, but none of them looked like they're worn or damaged in any way, and there was more than enough grease to lubricate them. The mixer works fine. It never locks up or hesitates to mix.Do you have any idea what might be the problem? the noise is very annoying.
For model number KSM150PSWW
Hello Les, thank you for your question. Since the gears are not broken or worn, and are properly lubricated, we would recommend checking the planetary housing for any scratch marks from screws that have worked their way out a bit. Gently remove the blank collar around the planetary gear housing and check the five flat head straight screws — they may have loosened to varying degrees, and may be touching the planetary housing. If the screws are in tight and not worked out, you will want to check the center shaft and pin Part Number: PS354304 and the agitator shaft Part Number: PS11740538. I hope this helps!
