Front Loading door would not stay locked when starting a wash cycle
The door had become more difficult to close and then eventually stopped locking. The relay worked but the mechanical mechanism was not working properly.
I did not use a manual. Just read some tips for removing the latch assy.
Latch Assy:
1. Removed the four screws that hold the lid to the detergent. 2. Remove the door and the 2 screws holding the door frame (opposite door hinges). 3. Pull the front panel forward, then remove a screw from each side that holds the washer top lid in place (nut driver). 4 Remove two screws that hold the latch assy (nut driver). 5. Unplug the wiring harness. 6. Reassemble in opposite order.
Lock Hoop Door Assy:
1. Remove the four screws that hold the door together and separate into two pieces. 2. Follow instructions to remove lock hoop (instructions should come with new assy) 3. Reassemble.
first i took the dispenser out for the soap, bleach , softerner. then took the four screws out of the inner front, panel at the opening removed it then, it had to 5/16 bolts at the top, to release the top of washer flip the lid open, and removed the latch assembly removed the three wires for the motors and put it back , as same as taking it apart. here's a hint,, if you need to open door there is a plastic line in the soap tray under it, pull , it will release the lock, mine was green color like weed eater line , it helps alot to have it open, thanks

The washer stopped during the rinse cycle. The door was locked. We pulled the orange cord under the laundry soap dispenser to get access to our clothing. We tried to start up the washer to drain it, but it continues to display the door open code. We tried unplugging it for 5 min, but nothing changed.
For model number mah6500aww
Hello Cathy, thank you for writing. This is likely due to a faulty Door Latch Assembly, part number PS11739444 for your model washer. You may also want to consider the Electronic Control Board, part number PS11739513 as the cause. You can test the resistance of the Door Latch Assembly with a multi-meter. It should read between 1500 - 1750 ohms of resistance to be working correctly. Good luck with your repair!
