How do you get the outer facial part of the door off to install the new handle the original handle has broken off
For model number MHMC1857BWH-1
Hi David,
Thank you for your inquiry. Before starting any repair, please unplug the the microwave from the electrical outlet. You do not have to remove the front panel to install the door. You will need to remove the inner plastic door liner so you can have access to the handle and take it off. When you open the door you will see a plastic liner that goes around the frame on the inside of the door. Use a putty knife and come in from the bottom to gently loosen the retainer clips that hold it in place as you go around the door. As you are moving around the door and you come to where the door is hinged to the microwave, you will have to loosen the lining from the back. Once the clips are released you can remove it from the door. Once the liner comes off you should see either 2 or 4 screws that hold the door handle in place. If you do not see the screws or the additional screws are not visible you may need to separate the inner and outer door the same way as you removed the inner lining. Once you have access to the screws you can unscrew them and remove the old door handle. Install the new door handle and put the door back together. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
